The levels are filled with too much empty space to the point where I feel reasonably convinced that when the game was finished the levels were all scaled up. This mostly manifests in the Jiggies you find while backtracking (and honestly this the best part, where the worlds all exist in one cohesive chain of maps you can travel between, even if it didn't work out the best), but it does leave a lot of the cool new stuff lacking. You've got New Move, use Move here to get Jiggy. Tying to the above, a lot of the game runs on Key to Lock progression. All he does is open like one or two doors and the only time he does something cool is controlling the golden statue. Tooie's biggest problems to me are threefold: Cloudcuckooland is such a disaster that I always give up there and go fight Grunty, I have no time for it. Hailfire Peaks is the best of them but it's got too many ways to get easily wrecked. Grunty Industries is too complex to really get around. Terrydactlyand is fucking huge and boring. This changes afterwards and then every world after has some horrible drawback. There's more stuff to do, it's more challenging, you've got more moves, and in levels that are massive and layered, but not so much that they're a total pisser to wander around. 182 All-time Genres 3D platformer 11 Collect-a-thon platformer 3 Comedy 22 Fantasy 75 Influences Action-adventure The evil witch Gruntilda has kidnapped Banjos sister Tooty Its up to him and his snarky partner Kazooie to traverse Gruntys castle. Tooie for the first four worlds is actually just that kind of Bigger And Better sequel that usually hits. Donkey Kong 64 is actively bad while Tooie is merely ungraceful.
